Demons Killed by Lord Krishna : In Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna is known for his role in various epic stories, including the Mahabharata and the Bhagavata Purana.
While Lord Krishna encountered and vanquished numerous demons throughout his life, here are some prominent ones:
- Putana: Putana was a demoness who disguised herself as a beautiful woman and tried to kill the infant Krishna by breastfeeding him poisoned milk. However, Krishna sucked out her life force along with her milk, causing her demise.
- Trinavarta: Trinavarta was a demon in the form of a whirlwind who attempted to carry away the young Krishna. Krishna, however, grabbed hold of him tightly, causing the demon to suffocate and perish.
- Bakasura: Bakasura was a crane demon who terrorized the village of Vrindavan. When the demon demanded tribute in the form of food, Krishna offered himself as the meal. But as Bakasura attacked Krishna, he expanded his size, causing the demon’s throat to split, resulting in his death.
- Aghasura: Aghasura was a demon in the form of a giant serpent. He opened his mouth wide to devour Krishna and his friends. Unfazed, Krishna entered the demon’s mouth and expanded his size, causing Aghasura to burst and meet his end.
- Keshi: Keshi was a demon who transformed into a ferocious horse. When Keshi attacked Krishna, the divine child inserted his arm into the demon’s mouth and expanded it, causing Keshi’s death.
- Kansa: Although not a demon in a supernatural sense, Kansa was a tyrannical king and the maternal uncle of Krishna. Kansa was responsible for various evil acts and sought to kill Krishna. In an epic battle, Krishna killed Kansa, ending his reign of terror.
